The Nuremberg Community Players is a nonprofit community theater based in Nuremberg, Pennsylvania. NCP was founded in 1983, originally established as a choral group. Rev. William and Judith Knott, pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Nuremberg, brought together parish members and local townspeople on February 28, 1981, to perform “Sing Together”, a musical play about the beginning of America. This performance was held in the chapel of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. From this original skit the beginning of the Nuremberg Community Players  continued to perform plays and musicals to this day.

Thereafter it evolved into the area’s oldest active, continually running community theatre organization with performances ranging in all ages and multiple different types of productions.  In 2011, the old Saint Joseph’s church was purchased by the theatre and became NCP’s permanent home! Renovations were made over the next several years to completely transform our new home into a full functioning stage.  A twelve-member board of directors meets monthly to handle business and financial affairs.  The general membership is comprised of persons from all walks of life: professional, non-professional and students from first grade through college.

In 2021, to honor our long running President Emeritus and founding member, Emerson Lindenmuth and to celebrate 100 successful performances over nearly 40 years, the players renamed their stage to "The Emerson Theatre"

In addition to providing live affordable performances to the community, we are active in donating to, and raising funds for, local charities including the Salvation Army and Nuremberg PIN (people in need).  We assist the Boy Scouts in earning their theatre badges and conduct free children’s theatre workshops. We help with our neighbors by holding fundraisers and getting involved in different community-based programs. Each year we present a two-hundred-dollar scholarship to a local high school graduate whose focus of education will be in the Arts.

We continue to work to bring a variety of new plays each year. Income for our theater is raised by performances, grants, donations and campaigns to raise monies needed. All are welcomed from all over; no matter age or ability, to come and find an exciting way to get involved!

It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of our oldest member Emerson Lindenmuth.

Emerson C. Lindenmuth, 92, of Nuremberg, passed away Sunday morning, July 31, 2022 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton, following a short illness.
Born in Hazleton, April 3, 1930, he was the son of the late Elsworth and Maude (Stegner) Lindenmuth and spent most of his life in Nuremberg.  He had also resided in New Jersey for a few years in the late 1950's
Emerson was a retired Draftsman, Machinist, and Blueprint Reader for Berylco, Hazleton and Bethlehem Steel.  He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.  He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Nuremberg.  He was a 40 year member of the Twin County Lions Club and a founding member of the Nuremberg Community Players.  He was also a member of the Tri-Town Rec. Club, Nuremberg Investment Club, and Nuremberg Cemetery Association.  He was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed golfing, baseball, and bowling.

Emerson had been apart of our community theater since its creation. He has been our president, an actor and a community member; and he will be missed by everyone.

Any donations in his name should be sent to the Nuremberg Community Players.
